Sarah Naughton

Sarah has graduated with the BSc in Biomedical Science (The Institute of Technology, Sligo), and with a First Class Honours in both the BSc in Forensic Toxicology and the BSc (Hons) in Human and Animal Toxicology, from Athlone Institute of Technology.

She has always had a keen interest in food safety and health, and the freshwater environment. Sarah’s research has included an investigation into the efficacy of herbal remedies on human neural cell lines. She can now apply her cell culture expertise to piscine cells. Using microbiological techniques coupled with DNA and RNA informatics, Sarah is focused on novel, non-chemical disinfection technologies such as pulsed ultraviolet light (PUV) and their effects on piscine wellbeing as well as problematic fish pathogens
